This wedge of grass marks the spot of the church of St Maurice. The original building (left) was demolished in 1876 and replaced by a new church (right), which itself was demolished in 1966. All that remains now is the graves of the churchyard, and a window, which can be found in the Yorkshire Museum.

I was christened in St.maurices Church I was born November 1966 I thought the church was demolished in 1967.
