St Margaret, Walmgate

Six medieval churches were located in the Walmgate area, but now only two remain. The building dates from the 12th century, although the brick tower is 17th century. The Norman south porch contains zodiacal carvings and depictions of the labours of the months – activities that commonly took place throughout the medieval year.
