There are a number of large stone coffins scattered around the Museum Gardens. Two rows of them can be found within the grounds of St Mary’s Abbey, laid out in the Roman style. A few are ornately carved, and contain inscriptions. The coffin in the image above was made for Julia Victorina and her four-year-old son, Constantius. It was commissioned by her husband, a centurion called Septimius Lupianus.
